Description

Aaron Campbell is the 2024 winner of a book cover art contest sponsored by Ross Pendergraft Library and Technology Center and the Arkansas Tech University Department of Art.

The contest challenges ATU students under the direction of Neal Harrington and Dr. Kasten Searles in the Illustration Studio classes to re-imagine classic or popular book covers using cut paper as the medium. This was the second year for the competition.

Campbell, a senior from Plumerville, earned the $300 first-place prize for his interpretation of the cover for “The Call of the Wild.”

Madison Humphrey of Springdale (second place, $200, “Watership Down”) and Cadence Pitts of Ozark (third place, $100, “The Secret Garden”) were also recognized for their book covers.

The award-winning pieces will become part of the Pendergraft Library and Technology Center art collection.

All 32 entries in the 2024 competition were put on display in the library. The winning pieces are located on the first floor of the library on the northeast wall of the reference collection alongside the 2023 winners.
