It’s battle royale: Haryana's Hisar to see clash of 3 Chautalas

INLD's Sunaina Chautala, BJP's Ranjit Singh Chautala, and JJP's Naina Singh Chautala contest in Hisar. Family members of Devi Lal vie for the same seat, setting up a unique political scenario in Haryana.
HISAR: With the INLD announcing Sunaina Chautala’s name for the Hisar Lok Sabha seat, three close family members of Tau (Devi Lal) have been in fray in Hisar seat.
Although all the three families have been politically separated for a long time, this is the first time that they are contesting against each other on the same seat.
The INLD on Thursday released a list of three candidates for the Lok Sabha polls from Haryana, fielding party's senior leader Abhay Singh Chautala from Kurukshetra.
On Thursday, INLD announced Sunaina Chautala, daughter-in-law of late Pratap Singh Chautala, second son of Tau, as its candidate in Hisar seat. Sunaina Chautala is the wife of Ravi Chautala.
Her father-in-law Pratap Singh Chautala was the first among the sons of Devi Lal to become an MLA.
BJP fields Ranjit
Earlier, the BJP fielded electricity and jail minister Ranjit Singh Chautala, third son of Devi Lal, from Hisar.
Ranjit became an MLA from Rori assembly constituency on the Lok Dal ticket in 1987 and also became agriculture minister. In 1990, Ranjit Singh Chautala was elected Rajya Sabha member. Recently, he had joined the BJP.
JJP goes for Naina
On Tuesday, JJP announced Naina Singh Chautala, daughter-in-law of former CM Omprakash Chautala, eldest son of Devi Lal, as its candidate from Hisar seat.
Naina is the wife of former MP Ajay Singh Chautala and mother of former deputy CM Dushyant Chautala.
Naina first became MLA from Dabwali assembly constituency from INLD party and in the last election became an MLA from Badhara constituency from JJP party.
Sisters-in-law from Hisar
INLD and JJP candidates Sunaina Chautala and Naina Singh Chautala are both daughters of Hisar.
JJP candidate Naina Singh Chautala is the daughter of Chaudhary Bhim Singh Godara, resident of Dadoli village of Adampur constituency. Similarly, Sunaina Chautala is the daughter of Ishwar Singh Lamba, resident of Daulatpur village of Uklana area of Hisar. Both the sisters-in-law have studied in Fateh Chand Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Hisar.
Brijendra Singh or Chandramohan in Cong?
Congress has yet to announce its candidate. Here the names of former BJP MLA and former Union minister Chaudhary Birendra Singh's son Brijender Singh, besides former deputy chief minister Chandramohan Bishnoi and former Union minister Jai Prakash JP are being discussed.
It’s Sikh for INLD in Ambala
Gurpreet Singh (28), a lawyer practising in the Punjab and Haryana high court, belongs to Karnal, where his family owns a petrol pump. He lives in Panchkula.
Talking to TOI, Gurpreet said he felt Ambala region had been ignored so far by MPs who were elected in the past.
