CEO Nithin Kamath’s wife Seema Patil revealed that she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2021. In a conversation with Dilip Kumar for his podcast The Other Side, Patil shared her journey of how she fought the disease and her painful chemotherapies.

Speaking about her cancer blog I am the healthiest person I know, and I got cancer! – Seema, Patil said it was written by Kamath. She also shared how she realised PET scans were expensive and wondered how normal people afford them. “The normal PET scan was almost Rs 30,000 and my treatment hasn’t even started yet,” she said.

Patil, 43, shared about her treatments and surgeries and how the experience changed her. “I have been part of Zerodha for a long time, but then, I was kind of floating around, and this made me realise that life is so short. I have to do something I am passionate about. I have to find something that I really love, like really feel the passion for it,” she said.

Sharing about her chemotherapies, Patil said, “Chemotherapies are really bad. The first time I got the chemotherapy done, it hit me, and I did not know what was happening, better to die than go through this. But the second time around, I decided that instead of just lying on the sofa, let me walk a little; that might change something, and it did.”

In February, Nithin Kamath shared that he suffered a mild stroke after the passing away of his father. Sharing his pictures lying on the hospital bed, Kamath had penned a note saying he does not know what gave him a stroke and it would take 3-6 months for him to recover.
