Arsenal transfer rumours and news: Defender Jurrien Timber scores on return following long lay-off Timber scores on return to action following long lay-off
Jurrien Timber made a fairytale return to action on Monday by scoring during Arsenal U21s' Premier League 2 clash with Blackburn Rovers.
Timber signed for the Gunners from Ajax for £34m last summer, but suffered an ACL injury 50 minutes into his Premier League debut against Nottingham Forest on August 12.
The Netherlands international made his return to training earlier this year, and having reacted positively to the programme to integrate him back into the team, made the dream return to action.
Cutting back inside onto his right foot inside the box at Ewood Park, the 22-year-old curled a sublime finish into the top corner.
Speaking ahead of the game against Blackburn, manager Mikel Arteta said: "He looks really good in training, but it’s that last big step, we need to see if he's ready and how it's going to go."
