Description

The brain, the most important organ in our body, took on a leading role in the development of fatigue. Reduced muscle activity means that the so-called "central drive", that is, impulse from the brain, has decreased. The sudden increase in the power and strength of muscle contractions in our example with cyclists means that we can (at least in part) manage this central drive. These observations, taken from the above work, as well as a number of other studies, led Dr. Knox to the formation of a new definition of fatigue. It states that "... fatigue is a problem of central perception, it is actually akin to a feeling or emotion and is not a direct physical phenomenon. Tim Knox suggested that it is the central nervous system that reduces the power of the signal sent to the musculature. Reducing the strength of the signal leads to a decrease in the number of activated muscle fibers. Simply put, the brain is the cause (and source) of fatigue, and it is the main organ of your body that gives you and your muscles to understand that you are tired and need to stop or slow down.
